The Diversity Assessment Tool for Agrobiodiversity and Resilience (DATAR) is the Raffaella Foundation’s hosted open-source software platform, with a web interface, the DATAR Web Portal, and an Android App to accelerate the transformation of food systems, agricultural development, and climate resilience planning by harnessing the use of intraspecific diversity in the form of crop varieties, livestock breeds, and aquatic farmed-types. DATAR is available in English, French, Spanish, Chinese, Russian, Italian, and Arabic, and includes specific modules for obtaining Free Prior Informed Consent (FPIC) when working with communities, respecting their sovereignty and international ethical regulations. The farmer centered tool is built and continues to be refined through cross-national multistakeholder co-learning to provide an enabling platform for global and cross-national influence.
The Raffaella Foundation hosts the Platform for Agrobiodiversity Research (PAR), a multistakeholder partnership, formally set up through a stakeholder meeting held in Rome in 2006, which brings together national and international research and development organizations with civil society and indigenous peoples groups to share knowledge and experiences that can improve agrobiodiversity maintenance and use.
